Anne Frank House tickets

The Anne Frank House sells timed tickets on its own website, and every slot opens on a Tuesday six weeks ahead. Here is what a ticket costs in 2026, how the release works, and how to pair your slot with a guided walk through Anne's Amsterdam.

The museum at Prinsengracht 263 is small, and demand is bigger than the space inside. That is why the Anne Frank House works with timed entry only. You choose a date and a start time online, the e-ticket arrives by email, and you walk in around the corner at Westermarkt 20. More than a million people visit every year.

Planning it well takes ten minutes. Put the release day in your calendar, book the slot the moment it opens, and build the rest of the day around it. Most visitors add a guided walking tour of the streets outside, the canal belt, the Westerkerk and the Jewish Quarter, because the walk gives the story its city and the museum gives it its rooms.

The quick answer

In 2026 tickets cost EUR 16.50 for adults, EUR 7.00 for ages 10 to 17 and EUR 1.00 for children up to 9, booking fee included. They are sold only on annefrank.org, for a fixed start time, and are released every Tuesday at 10:00 CET for visits six weeks later. There is no door sale and no waiting list. Book your slot about two hours after the start of a walking tour and you get the streets and the house in one day.

How much does it cost to tour the Anne Frank House?

An adult ticket costs EUR 16.50 in 2026, ages 10 to 17 pay EUR 7.00 and children up to 9 pay EUR 1.00. Every price includes the EUR 1.00 booking fee.

Those are the prices on the Anne Frank House website, annefrank.org, and the museum sells no ticket anywhere else. The audio tour is included with every ticket, in nine languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. There is also a version called "Anne's Story", told from Anne's point of view for younger visitors.

The optional introductory programme costs EUR 7.00 extra per ticket, so an adult with the programme pays EUR 16.50 plus EUR 7.00, which is EUR 23.50. Payment is by bank or credit card only, online and in the museum's cafe and shop.

How do I buy a ticket to visit the Anne Frank House?

Online only, on annefrank.org: pick a date, a start time and the ticket type, then pay by card. Your e-ticket comes by email.

The steps are short:

  1. Open the tickets page on annefrank.org and choose "museum visit" or "museum visit with introductory program".
  2. Pick your date and start time. The slot is your start time only; once inside, you can stay as long as you like.
  3. Add every person in one go, children included. You cannot add tickets to a booking later.
  4. Pay by bank or credit card and keep the email. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder first.

Several tickets can be in one name, as long as that person comes along. One warning the museum gives itself: some websites use addresses that look like the official one and sell invalid tickets. Type annefrank.org by hand rather than clicking an advert.

When are Anne Frank House tickets released?

Every Tuesday at 10:00 CET, for visits six weeks later. A visit on Tuesday 15 December 2026, for example, went on sale on Tuesday 3 November 2026.

This is the single most useful date in your planning. Count six weeks back from the day you want to visit, find that Tuesday, and set an alarm for a few minutes before 10:00 Amsterdam time. For most of the year that is 9:00 in London and 4:00 in the morning in New York.

If your dates are flexible, keep a second date in mind before the sale opens, and have your card ready. Holiday hours change on a few days: on 7 November 2026 the museum closes at 18:30, and on 25 and 31 December it is open 9:00 to 17:00. The full list is in our opening hours post.

Can you just walk into the Anne Frank House?

No. Every visitor needs a timed ticket bought online in advance, including young children and Museumkaart holders. Tickets are not sold at the door.

Can you buy Anne Frank tickets on the day? Only online, and only if that date is not sold out. There is no ticket desk at the entrance and no waiting list.

Arrive a few minutes before your start time at Westermarkt 20. Bags larger than an A4 sheet go into the free cloakroom, and there is no room at all for suitcases or large backpacks: leave those at your hotel or at the drop and go at Amsterdam Central Station. The museum is about a 20-minute walk from Central Station and about 10 minutes from Dam Square, and no tram stops at Westermarkt until February 2028 (the tram stop closure explained).

Are Anne Frank House tickets sold out?

Often, yes. The museum says demand exceeds capacity and tickets sell out quickly. If a date shows no tickets, it is sold out, with no waiting list.

The fix is timing, not luck: be online on the Tuesday release six weeks ahead. If your trip is closer than that and your dates are full, you can still spend the day with Anne Frank's story. Some good ways to do it:

  • The Last Walk and VR tour: a guided walk along the last part of the route the family took to the hiding place, then a virtual reality visit of the Secret Annex with a headset.
  • A small-group Anne Frank walk: the Frank family's Amsterdam, the Jewish Quarter and the occupation, told by a specialist guide.
  • The National Holocaust Museum and the Hollandsche Schouwburg memorial opposite, on one ticket.
  • The Dutch Resistance Museum, with an audio guide, on how people lived through the occupation and helped others hide.
  • The museum's own online tour: a virtual walk through every room of the house, on annefrank.org.

Can you take a guided tour of the Anne Frank House?

Not inside: the museum offers no guided tours. You get an audio tour in nine languages and can add a 30-minute introductory programme. For a live guide, take a walking tour of the streets outside.

The introductory programme is a 30-minute talk in English on Anne Frank's history in the context of the Second World War and the persecution of Jews, held before you go into the museum on your own. It costs EUR 7.00 extra, suits ages 10 and up, and has to be booked together with the ticket; you cannot add it to an e-ticket you already bought. With the programme, plan about an hour and a half in total.

A walking tour does the other half of the job. The guide takes you to the Westerkerk, whose bells Anne heard from the Annex, along the Prinsengracht, to the Stolpersteine set in the pavements and into the Jewish Quarter, and explains how the city around the hiding place changed under the occupation. Our walking tours guide compares every option.

A guide in your own language, Anne's story from the Westerkerk to the Jewish Quarter, and diary passages read on the way.

Do the I amsterdam Card or a student card give a discount?

No. The museum lists no discount for the I amsterdam City Card or student cards. Museumkaart and ICOM card holders pay only the EUR 1.00 booking fee, and still book a slot.

A few rules from the museum's ticket conditions are worth knowing before you click "pay":

  • No refunds or rebooking, not even for transport problems, negative travel advice or personal reasons.
  • Tickets are non-transferable and valid only for the date and time printed on them.
  • No extra tickets can be added to an existing booking; make a new one.
  • The European Youth Card costs EUR 7.00 including the booking fee, booked in advance.

Because the ticket is fixed, plan the day around it. A walking tour with free cancellation up to 24 hours before is the flexible part of the day, and the museum slot is the fixed one.

How do you combine museum tickets with a walking tour?

Walk first, then go in. Book your museum slot about two hours after your tour starts, and pick a tour that ends near the Prinsengracht.

That is the advice on the listing of the small-group walk in groups of 15, which starts at Beursplein 5 by the bronze bull and finishes outside the Anne Frank House. You arrive at the museum with the story already in your head: the move from Frankfurt, the call-up of Margot, the walk to the hiding place, the helpers. The rooms then mean far more.

Check where each walk ends before you choose a slot:
