Private Anne Frank & Jewish Quarter Tour

About this experience

With a guide to yourselves, the walk follows your questions. The story covers Anne Frank's love of writing, her family and their move from Germany, life in 1930s and 1940s Amsterdam, the years in hiding and Otto Frank's life after the war: he came back to Amsterdam on 3 June 1945, was handed Anne's papers that Miep Gies had saved, and saw the diary published on 25 June 1947 as Het Achterhuis. You hear how it then went round the world, now in more than 70 languages.

You meet at the Hermitage Pier, Amstel 51C, and spend the first part in the centuries-old Jewish Quarter, with the Jewish Museum and the Auschwitz Monument, and stories of the hiding places used by people in the resistance years. Then you cross the centre to the Anne Frank House, where the tour ends. Two hours in all.

Because the walk ends at the house, pairing is simple. Timed tickets for the Anne Frank House are sold on the museum's own website, annefrank.org: EUR 16.50 for adults, EUR 7.00 for ages 10 to 17 and EUR 1.00 for children up to 9 (2026, booking fee included). Book a slot about two hours after your start time and walk straight in. The price for your party shows when you pick a date and the number of people. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.

Tips before you book

  • Book the museum slot first, then the walk two hours earlier. New dates open every Tuesday at 10:00 CET for visits six weeks later, so book your slot as soon as your date opens.
  • Tell the guide at the start what your group already knows. A private walk can skip the basics or slow down for younger readers.
  • The museum advises a minimum age of 10. Under that, this walk can stand on its own as the family's Anne Frank visit.
  • Bring a rain layer. There is no indoor stop on the route.
